A Strategic Bet on Science-Backed Skincare
In a move to put more science-backed beauty on its shelves, Nykaa is acquiring a 51 per cent stake in the premium dermocosmetic label Aminu Wellness. The ₹32 crore (roughly $3.8 million) deal is the latest in a series of strategic plays by Nykaa to fortify its position in India’s fast-expanding premium skincare market and transition from a pure marketplace to a brand-led business.
Founders to Continue Leading Aminu’s Next Chapter
The board gave its approval on August 4, 2026, and barring any regulatory hurdles, the transaction should be wrapped up by September 15. Prachi Bhandari and Aman Mohunta will see to it that there is no disruption at Aminu Wellness; they will carry on leading the brand as it forges ahead with Nykaa as a new strategic partner. There is also an option in the agreement for Nykaa to take the rest of the 49 per cent over time if it so chooses.
How Aminu Wellness Quietly Built a Fast-Growing Premium Brand
Aminu has been something of a quiet success story since its Mumbai founding in 2019. Where other startups might lean on influencer marketing, Aminu has made its name through proprietary formulations and in-house manufacturing. The numbers back up the approach: the bootstrapped firm has turned a profit without outside funding and seen revenue climb some eight times in three years to about ₹19 crore in FY26.

Why Aminu Fits into Nykaa’s Long-Term Growth Strategy
For Nykaa, this is not simply a matter of adding another name to the roster. “Aminu offers formulation expertise and a loyal following that fits well with what we have,” says Adwaita Nayar, CEO and Co-founder of House of Nykaa. It is in line with the company’s plan to develop high-growth brands for consumers who want to see ingredient transparency and clinical proof of efficacy.
Scaling Premium Skincare Through Nykaa’s Omnichannel Network
With Nykaa’s omnichannel reach – digital as well as the 324 stores in 105 cities – Aminu can now put its products in front of a far larger audience. The partnership marries Aminu’s innovation with Nykaa’s distribution and retail scale.
What This Deal Means for India’s Beauty Industry
It is a telling sign of where the Indian beauty industry is heading. Today’s consumer is less swayed by hype and more interested in dermatologist-inspired solutions. The deal gives Aminu access to one of the country’s biggest retail ecosystems while letting the founders retain their vision, and for Nykaa it is another step in building a diversified portfolio. In an evolving market, such research-driven, profitable brands are proving to be among the most valuable assets.
